Wales vs. Iran, U.S. vs. England, Netherlands vs. Ecuador, Qatar vs. Senegal

The second round of 2022 World Cup group stage matches begins on Friday. Have you heard the USMNT is playing?

Of course you did. The United States are a significant underdog for England after the Three Lions demolished Iran to open their World Cup campaign. A loss likely dooms the United States’ chances of advancing. A result is imperative. Can they get it?

This line seems to reflect a relative lack of confidence in Wales’ ability to break Iran down like England did. We’re fascinated to see if Kieffer Moore starts the game for Wales, and the Welsh are likely to control possession in this one. What can they do to break Iran? And what is the best result for the United States? You can say it’s a draw or it’s a win for Iran. Minus is the most favored team here at -200 and we’re inclined to accept that.

It’s hard to have so much confidence in Qatar after what we saw on Sunday. Ecuador dominated the match and largely deserved the victory. Senegal are already without Sadio Mane and should be without midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate. He is an integral part of the Senegalese midfielder. But even without Mane and Kouyate, Senegal should have enough to eliminate the Qataris from the round of 16 and secure a decisive game with Ecuador on Tuesday.

It took the Dutch over 80 minutes to score a goal against Senegal and then add a second for good measure. Given how the first round of group matches went, these two teams could be content to play for a tie and stay tied for the first and control their own path to the knockout stage. We will do the draw. But if you’re feeling daring, a draw and under-parlay might be worth a risk.

Bet this game with your head, not your heart. England are deserved favorites at -175 after their performance against Iran. If you want to bet on the USA, we recommend taking a combination bet on an American win and a tie at +135. Keep in mind that a tie is a very good result for the USMNT, especially if Wales don’t beat Iran. As you can see from the odds, England is the safest bet here and would effectively end USA’s chances of advancing. If you want to be optimistic, hedge with this combination bet rather than going with just one outcome.
